Old-world opulence, slightly decayed, deeply intentional.

A members' café in a hundred-year-old corner of Old Montreal — specialty coffee and pastry by day, a hi-fi listening room by night. Built for people who take coffee, music, and the company they keep seriously.

Single-origin coffee pulled with intent, and pastry made in-house each morning. A calm, light-filled room for beginning the day slowly.

As the light drops, the room turns to sound — a hi-fi system and vinyl, in the tradition of the Japanese jazz-kissa, where the music is the point and never the background.

The space — Maison Coccinelle

Through the old door, faded grandeur.

Past a carved Persian door — its two knockers, one for men and one for women, set in the old way — an overgrown conservatory of a room: iron and glass, dusted plaster, Persian rugs over stone, and the low amber of evening light. Beauty left alone just long enough to become romantic.

A paradise garden, walled and fourfold.

Within the room, the spirit of the chahār-bāgh — the Persian paradise garden, quartered by water, a fountain at its heart. Cypress and rose, stillness and symmetry: a garden brought indoors.

The voice — Rokh Barz

Avant-garde, Persian-mythic, sculptural.

Named for the rokh, the mythical bird of Persian legend. The brand wears tarnished gold and baroque ornament — dramatic, otherworldly, unafraid. A café that carries itself like an editorial.

Before you arrive.

What is a listening room?
A room built around sound. Records are played in full on a hi-fi system, in the tradition of the Japanese jazz-kissa — the music is the point, never the background. You come to listen, not to shout over it.
Do I need a membership to visit?
No. The café and the listening room are open to everyone. Membership adds priority access, reserved listening sessions, member-only evenings, and first access to what we make — but you never need one to walk in.
When do you open?
2026. The opening list is how we tell people first — and members of that list get the first invitations.
Where will it be?
Old Montreal. We are finalising the room now, and the exact address goes to the opening list before it goes anywhere else.
Is there food?
Specialty coffee and pastry made in-house by day. In the evening, a licensed bar — wine, cocktails, and a small board for the listening hours.
